GUEST BLOGGER: Be The One You Love

Hiya lovelies,
So today I have for you a special kind of post, a chance to share with you one of the bloggers that I love catching up with and reading their posts. This month, I decided to feature Ellen, who writes the blog 'Be The One You Love'. If you haven't heard of her, be sure to give her a visit. I'll leave the links at the end of the post. I decided to ask her some questions about her blog, her fashion and beauty tastes and overall general ones. I hope you enjoy.

BLOG RELATED

1.   What reason made you want to start a blog?
I've just always really had a passion for make up and beauty and over the last year or so, my friends had always been asking me what foundation I use, or what mascara I use and how I do a specific make up look. That kind of gave me the idea to start a beauty blog as it is something I feel really passionate about and I really like sharing my ideas.

2.   Is there a specific topic that you find you write about more than any other?
Well I would say my blog is Beauty, Fashion and Lifestyle so that's really what I blog about. I love writing blogs on new things that I have recently bought and tried out.

3.   What is your favourite thing about blogging?
The sense of accomplishment when you finally finish a blog post. Also, I really love all of the cute comments you receive!

4.   Describe your blog in 3 words…
As I've already said above it would be beauty, fashion and lifestyle.

5.   What Blogs do you love at the moment?
I've always loved Zoella's (Zoe Sugg) blog and I always read her latest posts. I also really enjoy Niomi Smart's blog. Both of those girls are so flawless looking!

FASHION AND BEAUTY RELATED

1.   Where do you find yourself shopping most often?
Topshop! But I would get a lot of my shoes from River Island.

2.   Is there a particular celebrity you draw inspiration from when it comes to your own style?
I had to think about this question for a while as I feel like I kind of just wear what I want to. But I think my style would be quite similar to Kylie Jenner's as I would wear leather jackets and dark trousers such as leggings or even leather leggings. She would also wear black boots a lot, and as would I.

3.   Key beauty products for the month?
I recently did a July Holy Grail blog post and my favourite product for that month was my Benefit Boi-ing Concealer. I'm not going to reveal my August Holy Grail product until I do the post on my blog!

4.   If you were to add a pop of colour to an otherwise neutral outfit, which colour would you choose?
I would say it would depend on the outfit! But if I were to add colour by using nail polish or something, then I would say the colour cyan.

5.   On average, how many bags do you own?
Emmm I'm not too sure, not that many! Maybe 5? I kind of just get one bag and then use it until it gets grubby then I get a new one, so I don't ever really have too many at the same time!

FOOD AND LIFESTYLE RELATED

1.   What foods can you not live without?
Pizza and Honey Chilli Chicken. But for sweets I love Drumstick lollies and Haribo.

2.   Are you a talented cook and if so, what are your specialities?
Definitely not! I can't cook anything! I can bake a bit and I love baking cupcakes.

3.   Beach, Countryside or City?
All of them! I probably would love the beach the most as I love sunbathing and relaxing. However, if I lived in the countryside I would be able to horse ride which is something I would love to do. But then occasionally I would love how busy the city is and obviously all of the shops!

4.   What is your happiest moment when you were a child?
Oh gosh. There's been so many! Probably just spending Christmas every year with my family as it's my favourite time of the year!

5.    If your life is a song, what title best fits it?
This is a tricky question! I guess this song title can go for everyone but there is a song called "Life Happens" by Brandon and Leah Jenner. It kind of just means that no matter how hard you try, life will happen to you and basically whatever is going on in your life, you have to keep moving on. It basically means just to enjoy life!

LAST OF ALL,
What advice would you give to new bloggers who are just starting out?
Make sure you're blogging for the right reasons and blog about something that you feel passionately towards as this will be evident in your blog and will make it more interesting!

I hope you enjoyed finding out more about Be The One You Love creator Ellen and if you would like to look at her blog or find her on any social networks click on the links below.

Monthly Favourites- August 2014

Hiya lovelies,
So today I am here with my monthly favourites; everything I have been loving in the month of August. This doesn't just involve beauty products, it involves books, films and music as well. I hope you enjoy what you are reading and let's jump right in.
The first thing I am going to talk about is what I have enjoyed reading this month. The only book that is a story that I have read this month is 'The Beach Hut Next Door' by Veronica Henry. I actually won this through a site called Goodreads which is an online book club where you can review books and discuss with others what you thought of them. I was extremely grateful to receive this book and I will definitely leave a link to where you can purchase it at the end of the post. The book follows the lives of people living in a coastal town through the summer and it's the great book for relaxing at the beach with as it is not hard to follow. I would definitely recommend it to others.

The next book I have had particular interest in this month is 'Eye Candy' by Linda Mason. This is almost a beginner's guide to eye make up looks as it has sections on how to recreate different looks such as 'Audrey Hepburn'  and also aspects such as what the difference is between different types of brushes. Keep an eye out for future blog posts as there may be an eye shadow look coming your way very soon.

The last reading material I have loved this month is September's Vogue. I love the September editions of all fashion magazines as this is when all the fall collections are shown and I just love warmer clothes such as sweaters and boots. With Cara Delevigne on the cover, who could really go wrong. She is such a natural beauty and anything with her on is a good pick in my books.
Finally the beauty products that I have been loving this month are 2 nail varnishes and a mascara. The nail varnishes you will have seen before if you read previous blog posts are the Barry M Nail Paint in Blueberry Ice Cream and the NYC Polish in Mint Macaroon. I think they are really summery shades and remind me of the sea.
I hope you enjoyed this post and feel free to comment or get in touch via elliew59@live.co.uk.
Thank you for reading,

Nothing Planned?!?!

Hiya lovelies,
So today I basically have nothing planned for you and I apologise for that. I have spent so much time getting organised for university and making sure I'm fully prepared that I guess in a way I may have neglected this blog to a certain level. You should however know that there are a few exciting posts coming up including a guest blogger, a few hauls and other bits and pieces so keep an eye out for them.

What I'm basically trying to say is this post really has no meaning in itself but is really just here to give you an update and more information into what's going on in my life and go into a bit more detail on the things that I've mentioned in other posts briefly. I think it's important to give you all a bit of background information into why I post the things I do and buy the things I buy.

The most important aspect of my life is University and moving out. The more I think about it, the more dread is just entering my system because there is so much to do before I go. If you haven't  been reading my blog for a while, the course I am taking is 'Childhood Studies' and I am living on campus. This means that I'm sharing a house with up to 9 other people with a shared living space and kitchen, 2 bathrooms and my own bedroom/study area. I will make sure that as soon as I move in (20th September!), I will do a post on how I have 'decorated' my room. I also had to buy everything I would need to use in the kitchen as nothing is provided. I have recently purchased a new laptop which I am using to write this post and I love it to pieces.  The next blog post you see will probably be about this laptop and what apps and things I've already downloaded. This is in fact my Christmas present this year but I needed a new one for uni as my old one was pretty close to death.

I apologise yet again for the lack of organisation towards this post and if you have any ideas that you would like me to write about, please do not hesitate to email me at elliew59@live.co.uk

What's In My Bag?- Summer 2014

Hiya lovelies,
So today, I thought I'd share with you what I tend to keep in my bag on a daily basis. Obviously more things may be included if I were to go somewhere special on that particular day. The bag I use is a leather satchel I was gifted for my 18th birthday from my parents. It's a perfect size to use every day and it will also serve me well when I go to uni to carry my laptop and textbooks to classes.
Here is the bag open. As you can see, there is a large selection of pockets and space to hold your belongings in.
My makeup bag was from Kurt Geiger and cost me around £28 last year. I honestly love the color and fabric of it and it's just roomy enough to fit all the makeup I carry around with me inside

Here's a quick view of what you will find in my everyday make up bag. There will be a blog post coming shortly looking at the items in closer detail so keep an eye out for that.

This is the purse I am using at the moment although due to the fact I have a large collection of purses, I tend to change them out quite a lot. This one was £5 from Primark and has lasted me a long while. I've definitely found that the quality of items from Primark has improved over time.

Last but not least is my diary and the pens I use for writing in it. You might think it's strange that I have a packet of felt tip pens in my handbag but I like to color code everything I write in my diary so I can stay super organised (I swear I'm normal).

Anyways, that's all folks. I hope you enjoyed this post and make sure to keep up to date with new posts by following me on blog loving . There are lots of exciting posts scheduled including a guest blogger at the end of the month!

I Got Into Uni!!!

Cute little knitted flowers around the railings <3

Hiya lovelies,
So as you can probably tell by the title, I got into the University I chose. I am currently writing this on the Thursday night of results day and honestly I'm so pleased. The night before (the Wednesday) I was honestly in a state of panic. I was shaking with dread and couldn't think straight at all. All I could think was 'What if I don't get in?' I had no back up plan to fall back on and what job was going to accept me with terrible A-Level results.

So we went for a family trip to the beach in the evening, as you can see above. We had an ice cream, skimmed stones across the sea (I can admit failure on that one), and then we went to the amusements on the 2p machines. I honestly had the loveliest night and it was so good to just have a relaxing trip out with the family and spend quality time together, something that doesn't happen an awful lot nowadays.

Anyway, onto Results Day, I needed 220 UCAS points to get accepted to do 'Early Childhood Studies' and I got 300, so I was well and truly pleased with myself.  I think when you get results, it's important to focus on how ou feel you achieved as a person and not compare yourself to anyone else. As long as you feel that the work you put in reflects your results, that's all that matters.

I hope everyone got the results that they were looking for and let me know if you would like more of these type of posts or what you would like to see more of.

The Stress of A Level Results Day

Hiya lovelies,
So if you are reading this on the day it is set to be published then it is Wednesday and tomorrow is Results Day. For those of you that may not live in England or know what A- Levels are, they are basically what decide whether you get into University or not, dependent on your grades.
It is one of the most horrific parts of the school year and even just the thought of around 2000 students cramming into a hall not big enough to hold everyone is making me feel slightly nauseous.

My plan of action is to catch the train at around 8.30am to arrive at college for just before 9 o'clock. There are however a few things that you need to bring yourself if you are going, just in case the results are not what you expected and the morning doesn't go to plan.
  • Bring your mobile phone and make sure you have enough charge and credit to be able to ring universities through clearing. A phone will also be likely to have a calculator so you can work out how many UCAS points you have earned
  • You also need to bring any documentation with you that will identify you as being a UCAS applicant with your identification number on. This will help you to go through clearing.
  • Buy a copy of the telegraph (newspaper) on the morning especially so you can see which universities are offering places through clearing.
But most of all, GOOD LUCK to everyone getting their results tomorrow. I hope you achieve as highly as you wanted and you should be proud of making it through your A-Levels.
Thank you for reading this post and I hope you find it useful.

Superdrug Haul - August 2014

Hiya lovelies,
So last week I went on a little bit of a shopping trip to Durham as you can see if you have read previous posts of mine and we decided to buy a few beauty bits and pieces while we were there. If you don't know what Superdrug is, it basically sells everything beauty related possible from shampoos to makeup to sun cream... everything you could wish for.

Barry M Nail Paint in Blueberry Ice Cream
In my opinion, I would rate this nail polish a solid 5/5 stars. I don't usually go for colors that are as blue as this one but it is such a summery shade and reminds me of the sea. I've survived about a week wearing two coats with no serious chips and its easily applied and not too gloopy. Overall, it gives off a very glossy look and I've received compliments on it when I go out . I love it!

MUA Pro Brow Ultimate Eyebrow Kit
I would give this product 4/5 stars due to the fact that although there are three colors to choose from, this means that the two colors that do not match your eyebrows go unused. I find it easy to use the brush to fill in my eyebrows and create a natural look, compared to using an eyebrow pencil. A setting gel is included which helps to keep them in place for a long period of time . The price is amazing for the product you get and I would definitely recommend it.

Schwarzkopf Texturized Salt Spray
This spray unlike others can leave your hair with a beachy effect without feeling or looking sticky. It would however suit those more with longer hair as it can make mine look stringy and too separated if I do not use only a minimal amount. I love the smell of this product as it is very summery and overall works well.

Batiste Dry Shampoo
I don't think I even need to talk about this product as it has been around for so long, if you don't know it, you're missing out. This is a repurchase for me, however this time I chose the original variety as I've previously found that some of the more floral and scented ones can be quite overpowering throughout the day. It's great to just spray in your hair and go on those days where your hair may be looking a bit dull and you have no time to wash it and style it. In my opinion, it also leaves my hair looking more volumised and as though it is much thicker than in reality. I think this is a staple to every person's life

I hope you enjoyed today's post and make sure you keep an eye out for my next one (ever Monday, Wednesday and Friday). Thank you for reading!

Summer 2014 Trips

Hiya lovelies,
So this week I haven't been on too many adventures but the ones I have been on have been wonderful. On Tuesday, I headed off to Durham with some of my family and we spent the day there. If you've never been it's basically a city with lots of shops but also some really nice views and walks. Since at this exact moment in time, me and my cousin are both pretty skint we went along the river and had a picnic by Durham cathedral.

On Thursday, me and my friend Daniella went on a trip out to have a picnic at the beach. It was so cold that we stayed for around 2 hours and went back to a town with shops :'). We spent a lot of time in different stations.

I hope you enjoyed this post even if it was a short one . I will be back shortly with a much longer one. New posts every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Hello August!- Organising Desk Space

Hiya Lovelies,
In my opinion one of the main things that should be done at the start of every month is a clear out and an organize of the areas you use most (especially if you're a messy person to an extreme level like me) . It's also important to change up the setting you spend a lot of time in to provoke new inspirations and thoughts inside your head. The first Part I decided to organize was my desk space.  Bearing in mind, for this month, the only time i sit at my desk  is to paint my nails and choose jewelry, I decided to play up that aspect and downsize the amount of space stationary usually takes up.

This is my desk set up at the moment. The desk is actually an old kitchen table which is older than me and the chair is just a simple office chair from Argos. The throw was £4 from Primark and the cushion was handmade and a gift. The round hat box in the right hand corner of the desk actually stores bikinis and was £12 on sale from CB Furnishings and the red baskets were five for around £2.50 from Wilkinsons.

Just adding a throw to a desk chair can make it so much more comfy and look a bit more girly. It's honestly the nicest feeling to be sat here on an evening writing blog posts all cosy.

I decided to store my jewelry in the red baskets so it is easily viewable and sorted into different categories. It has made me realise I own a LOT. A lot of it was given to me from a grandparent and there are a lot of interesting pieces. My nail varnishes are now on full display due to the fact that this is now the main purpose of the desk to paint my nails at.

On the left hand side of my desk are 2 shoe boxes holding stationary and nail tools and some make up I don't use on a regular basis. Then at the front are the things I use the most to make lists and my purse.
Overall the whole area is about ten times more organised than usual and everything is clearly viewable. Thank you for taking the time for reading this post.

Overview of July

Hiya lovelies,
So for me, a new month means a fresh start and August is the perfect month to do that due to the 'sunny' weather and the fact that it is a free time when there is no college or things to do desperately. I thought I'd start a summer series called 'Hello August' where I could show you everything I am doing this summer, what I buy, what I wear and what I eat. Basically my whole life! As usual, I will be posting on Monday, Wednesday and Friday however keep your eyes peeled because there may or may not be a YouTube account appearing soon. (Eeek!)

Overview of July
At the start of July, the rest of my family were still at school or work, so I spent a lot of time with my cousin just wandering around town, going for Costa with friends or as you can see below; taking selfies.... (I'm on the right :'))

Half way through July, I went to Redcar with two of my closest friends. It was so hot that we even went in the sea (woah.... stand back). Its always cute to have a catch up with friends you haven't seen in nearly a year. We sat and ate fish and chips on the beach, went for a paddle in the sea and spent far too much money in the amusements.

Then finally on the 30th of July it was my Dad's Birthday so we went to Filey for a day out with the family. If you have never been there before, you need to go because it is honestly one of the cutest places in the world and i spent a large segment of my summers there when I was younger. I think its safe to assume I love the beach more than life and have many more trips to come so watch out for them.

I hope you enjoyed today's post. Keep an eye out for many more to come (every Monday, Wednesday and Friday) and I will see you shortly.
Thank you
